Consultant Psychiatrist
I am a Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry and Substance Misuse Psychiatry, with 12 years of experience of practising psychiatry, including training in the St. Mary’s and the Charing Cross Training Schemes in the UK. I have psychotherapy training with skills in; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) including Sleep CBT; psychodynamic psychotherapy and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
I am passionate about promoting good mental health along with working towards prevention of mental illness. I recognise the huge impact that life stressors and negative life events can have on one’s mental wellbeing and also how emotional stress can prevent one from living life at its best. I believe that preparation with a set of personalised and holistic set of tools can help build mental resilience to face life’s challenges.
I work collaboratively with my clients and a central part of my practice is ensuring that I provide a thorough medical mental wellbeing assessment along with psychological education in a clear and relevant manner. This allows clients to develop an understanding of the basic concepts of what might be going on in their minds and this sets the scene for work on self-wellbeing skills. Key tenets are recognizing the early signs of poor mental health for swift action.
I hope to make a difference to each of my clients with the Aequi model of mental wellbeing, and that our unique approach of truly combining medical, psychological and holistic self-care will allow clients to experience the best of all these practices in a self-compassionate and life enriching manner.
