I am a Consultant Psychiatrist with a breadth of experience in working with people to optimise their mental wellbeing through both a medical and psychological approach. Having practised Psychiatry for over 10 years in a variety of clinical settings I have knowledge of identifying and managing a wide range of mental health problems and have a particular interest in Mentalisation Based Therapy and Occupational Psychiatry. I have been involved in the development of mental health services and delivery of training both in the UK and internationally.
At the heart of my approach is the belief that mental wellbeing is something we can all cultivate with the correct guidance and reflection. Overall success and joy comes from recognising that life is always in a perpetual state of motion and achieving balance is a continually evolving process. By reflecting on the strengths we possess, both as individuals and as members of a network or community, we can develop our resilience; overcome our challenges; and savour the opportunities and pleasure that lie in each new moment.
‘He allowed himself to be swayed by his conviction that human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but that life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves.’ Gabriel García Márquez
